Something for all tastes at IW Literary Festival

Cookery books are regularly at the top of the best-seller lists and the chefs who produce them are massive stars.

This year’s Isle of Wight Literary Festival, being held at Northwood House today and over the weekend, has added a tasty ingredient to its programme with Lit Feast — a series of talks and demonstrations by top food and drink writers.

And there is a local flavour to the offering, with Island chef Robert Thompson, who was one of the youngest to ever be awarded a Michelin star. Robert will be preparing some mouthwatering dishes using Island ingredients in the Lit Feast marquee on Saturday morning. Star chef and author Rosemary Shrager will also be cooking up a storm on Saturday afternoon bringing her exuberant style to the festival.

But there’s something for everyone at the Literary Festival; history buffs will be fascinated in the talk about Anne Boleyn and Elizabeth I: the mother and daughter who changed history. Tracy Borman will be delivering the talk at 11.40am on Sunday.

Political nerds can go and hear “Didn’t you used to be Chris Mullin?” by former Labour minister Chris Mullin on Saturday morning. And the Festival with close on Sunday with Music and Literary Heaven, and evening of poetry, jazz, song and humour, with actress Maureen Lipman among others.
