Freshwater Bay Women’s Institute (FBWI) has been chosen by WI Life, the magazine distributed to some 170,000 members nationwide, for a beach photoshoot because of their strong coastal links.
A variety of photos published include members Terry Butchers (who set a record in 1978 as the fastest woman to water-ski around the Isle of Wight), Annette Gibb (a watchkeeper at the National Coastguard Institution, at the Needles), and wild swimmers. Other photos show members volunteering at the Freshwater Independent Lifeboat shop, in the Bay.
There are also photos of FBWI members of the Bay Wailers, who perform regularly at Freshwater Bay, litter-picking as part of the Vectis Wombles, and a group setting out to access the caves at Watcombe Bay.
