New autumn harvest show to debut at Thompson’s Garden Centre

A brand new celebration of home‑grown talent is coming to the Island this autumn, as Thompson’s Garden Centre, in Newchurch, launches its first Autumn Harvest Show on September 26-27. Created to champion the joy of growing your own, the two‑day event is open to everyone – from seasoned gardeners and allotment regulars to enthusiastic beginners and families discovering the pleasure of planting for the first time. Supported by the Isle of Wight Horticultural Society, the show promises a colourful and creative showcase of local horticultural skill.

Entries are invited across a wide range of categories, including dahlias, flowers, pot plants, vegetables, fruit, and floral art.

Whether it’s a perfectly shaped carrot, a prize‑winning bloom, or an imaginative floral display, growers of all ages are encouraged to put their best work forward and compete for prizes. Organisers hope the event will bring the community together and inspire more Islanders to discover the satisfaction of gardening and home growing.

Visitors can expect a lively atmosphere, plenty of inspiration,i and a touch of friendly rivalry as growers from across the Island present their finest produce and displays. With autumn colour at its peak, the show aims to become a new highlight of the Island’s horticultural calendar.

Anyone hoping to take part can pick up an entry form now from Thompson’s Garden Centre or download one via the website, where full category details and email entry information are available: thompsons-plants.co.uk/visit-us/newchurch.
