With the season nearly over, West Wight overcame league winners, Whitecroft & Barton, 3-0 to win the Challenge Cup, with first-half goals from Ash Brett and Casey Tyrell. Tyrell then scored West Wight’s third in the second half.
Binstead COB secured promotion to Division One, and W&B won the Memorial Cup after beating Brading 3-0 and came top of Division One.
Vics Reserves’ Travis Pitman hit a double hat-trick and Mac Barnes also scored three for the team. Shanklin U14s secured a double.
Divisions One and Two
W&B secured back-to-back league winning success, after winning 4-2 at home to Shanklin, with first-half goals from Kade Woodford, Josh Craig and Sam Cant. Coner Lyon added a fourth after the break. Shanklin battled back with 2 goals from Josh Field.
Ash Brett’s 83-minute goal saw West Wight win 1-0 away at Brading and claim second place in the league.
In Division Two, Binstead COB won 1-0 away at Sandown & Lake, with player-of-the-match Isaac Turner inspiring the promotion-winning victory. Dan Murphy scored the second-half winner.
East Cowes Sports were awarded an away win against Newport Res.
East Cowes Vics Res won 15-1 at home to Pan, with Travis Pitman getting a double hat-trick, Mac Barnes scoring a hat-trick, there were 2 for Ollie Sweatman and sub, Kian Vickery, and 1 apiece for Chris Russell and Damien Cassford.
Midweek, player-of-the-match Sam McInnes inspired Binstead COB to win 2-0 away at East Cowes Sports, with a Scott Jones header and an Ash Smith strike that was deflected in. Binstead COB were promoted as Champions.
Combination Two
High Park A claimed top spot after winning 6-3 away at Bembridge & Vectis A. Oakfield A won 5-2 at home to Ryde Saints Res, with consolation goals from Alfie and Jack Bradley.
West Wight A won an entertaining away match 3-2 at Sandown & Lake A, with goals from Oakleigh McMahon, George Saunders, and Jordan Maloney. Sandown’s Finn Metcalfe and Daniel Warboyes were on target.
Wessex
Newport won 3-0 at home to AFC Aldermaston in Wessex Division One, with player-of-the-season Ji Nash opening the scoring with his 40th goal of the season. Subs, Jordan Browne and Kudszaishe Mazambara, added. Newport finished in seventh place and just outside of promotion play-off places. Keelan Walsh was awarded player-of-the-match.
Before the match, players from both sides, joined with spectators, stood in silent tribute to Newport legend, Micky Gee.
Cowes celebrated the success of Euan St John Biggs after he scored a hat-trick and was awarded Most Valued Player for England’s U20 Beach Soccer side in the Viareggio tournament. The team delivered a 7-6 win over Belgium to secure fifth place.
Tonight (Friday) sees the final of the IW Gold Cup, between Cowes and Newport, with kick off at 7.45pm at Beatrice Avenue.
Youth
Shanklin U14s added the Cup to their success in the league, winning 5-2 against W&B at West Wight, with 2 goals from player-of-the-match Jaxson Newnham, 2 from Charlie Lawrence, and 1 from Ruben Meek. The success marks Shanklin’s third double success in a row.
