On July 4, Islanders will head to the polls to elect, for the first time, two MPs for the Isle of Wight—one for Isle of Wight East and one for Isle of Wight West.

You're likely familiar with the candidates by now. You've received their leaflets, attended hustings, and perhaps even had a canvasser or two knock on your door. You can also find political parties' policies and plans on national websites, and they've all been responding to letters, phone calls, and emails on a wide range of issues.

However, when you cast your vote, you'll be choosing a person to represent you in Westminster—not just a party. The IW Observer team wanted to give you a chance to get to know the individuals behind the campaigns a bit better.

We invited all candidates from both constituencies to our new offices in Newport for a 10-minute chat with our editor, Carole Dennett. Discover which candidate has kissed a Tory, which candidate admits to being called ‘a lemon’ by a loved one, and hear some of their amusing campaign stories. Carole has known most of the candidates for years, so these are relaxed and friendly conversations.

If you're undecided about where to place your vote on July 4, we hope these chats help you make an informed decision.

If you're thinking about not voting at all because they're all as bad as each other - see if these videos can change your mind. And if you've already chosen your champion, you might even find some food for thought!
