Thousands of Islanders risk losing their postal vote unless they act quickly, with just days left to renew under new election rules.
Under the Elections Act 2022, postal votes must now be renewed every three years. Anyone who applied before January 30, 2024 must submit a fresh application by the end of this month. If not, the Electoral Registration Officer is legally required to cancel their postal vote and they will have to vote in person until a new application is approved.
Returning Officer Claire Shand urged voters not to leave it too late, with council elections scheduled for Thursday, May 7.
The quickest way to reapply is via the GOV.UK postal vote service, where applicants must provide their date of birth, National Insurance number and a scanned signature.
You can apply via iw.observer/postal-vote.
