One of the Isle of Wight’s most popular traditions is back this summer, as the 125th Royal Isle of Wight County Show returns to Northwood on July 11 and 12 – nearly two centuries after it was first held in 1833.
The two-day event at the County Showground promises to be one of the most ambitious in years, with organisers introducing camel racing and giant tortoises, alongside the show’s traditional programme of livestock judging, equine events, vintage tractors, local food, and countryside crafts.
Graham Biss, County Show chairman, said this year’s event will be one to remember.
“This event has been part of Island life since 1833, and that history means everything to us. We’ve pulled out all the stops for 2026 – where else on the Island can you watch camel racing in the morning, see Supreme Champion cattle judged in the afternoon, and finish the day with dancing sheep? It’s a uniquely wonderful occasion and we can’t wait to welcome everyone through the gates.”
The show will also feature the ‘I Love Wight’ Makers’ Market, a food pavilion showcasing producers, WI tent, a fun dog show, woodland crafts, and full main ring programme (sponsored by the IW Observer), including a grand parade of champions.
Advance tickets are on sale now from iwcountyshow.co.uk : Adults £12.50 (£16 on the day). Children go free.
