Choirs raise £700 for Age UK Isle of Wight after charity concert

Age UK Isle of Wight has received a £700 donation, following a charity concert performed by Newchurch Male Voice Choir and Cotswold Male Voice Choir.

The concert, held at St Saviour-on-the-Cliff Church in Shanklin, brought together the Island choir and their visitors from the Cotswolds for an evening of music in aid of the charity.

The event marked the first visit to the Island by Cotswold Male Voice Choir, and featured a programme of traditional songs, hymns, and a joint performance of Elvis Presley’s American Trilogy.

Following the concert, representatives from Newchurch Male Voice Choir visited Age UK IW to present a cheque for £700. The total was raised through a retiring collection at the concert and from the choir’s Christmas concert at Brighstone.

Maria Bunce, chief officer for Age UK IW, said: “We are incredibly grateful to Newchurch Male Voice Choir and Cotswold Male Voice Choir for choosing to support Age UK Isle of Wight.

“It was a fantastic evening of music and community spirit, and this generous £700 donation will make a real difference to our work supporting older people across the Island.

“As a local independent charity, support like this means so much to us, and we would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved, from the choirs and organisers to everyone who attended and donated.”

The charity also thanked St Saviour-on-the-Cliff Church, and everyone who helped make the event a success.
