Cowes B overcome Cowes C in Cowes Clash

With the summer season off to a sunny start, recent results saw, in Division One, Plessey A beat Ryde Marina A 73-50 (8-2), Sandown A overcome Plessey B 76-46 (10-0), and then winning 79-39 (10-0) away at Totland A. Shanklin A won ‘away’ at Shanklin B 55-45 (8-2), Ryde Marina A won 84-36 (10-0) at home to Ventnor A, and Plessey A won 66-52 (8-2) away at Bembridge A.

In Division Two, Cowes Medina B won 66-46 (8-2) ‘away’ at Cowes Medina C, with Plessey C winning 65-50 (8-2) at home to Ryde Marina B. Ventnor B won 57-52 (8-2) at home to Cowes Medina C, Ryde Marina B won 71-48 (10-0) at home to Sandown B, Plessey C won 59-52 (8-2) away at Sandown E, Shanklin D won 69-38 at home to Camp Hill A, and Newport A narrowly won 59.75-59 (8-2) away at Cowes Medina B.

Division Three saw Newport B win 63-54 (6-4) away at Ryde Marina C. Sandown C won 53-48 (8-2) at home to Ventnor C, Bembridge B won 52.5-49 (8-2) away at Newport B, and Shanklin E won 82-40 (10-0) at home to Sandown D.

The afternoon midweek league saw Ryde Marina D beat Ryde Marina E 55-59 (8-2), Plessey F beat Camp Hill C 74-36 (10-0) at home, Sandown F win 50-42 (10-0) at home to Totland D, Plessey G won 65-32 (10-0) away at Ventnor E, and Sandown G winning 66-44 (9-1) against Newport C.

Cowes Medina B beat Shanklin F 70-39 (8-2), Ryde Marina D won 54-31 (8-2) away at Totland D, Sandown G won 51-45 (8-2) at home to Ventnor E, Newport C won 50-48 (6-4) away at Ryde Marina E, Camp Hill C won 51-44.75 (8-2) at home to Sandown F, and Plessey F won 53-47 (8-2) away at Shanklin F.

IW Ladies’ President, Carol Jones, led a squad of Island bowlers on their annual tour, winning matches against Dorchester and Shaftesbury, and coming close against Portland Borstal and Broadstone. Highlights of the tour included members observing a strict ‘Witches, Warlocks, Ghosts and Ghouls’ dress code.
