Newport under-14s overcame Sandown & Lake Raptors, in the youth cup final.
Sandown’s Jude Wallis hit the bar, and Fraser Leonard scored from the rebound, for a well-earned 1-0 lead. Sonny Ferrin was outstanding for Sandown, and keeper, Ryan Morris, kept Fin Dyer’s shot out to see Sandown lead 1-0 at the break.
‘Port’s keeper, Jye Lock, kept Sandown’s attackers at bay, but with time running out, Remy Deegan levelled with less than 6 minutes left. With penalties looming, Ben McCormack calmly finished off a long-ball move. The 2-1 lead soon turned into 3-1 when, chasing an equaliser from a corner, Sandown conceded, as Remy Deegan chased up his own clearance to score into an empty net, to secure victory to go with their top league place.
