Pupils at St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School, in Carisbrooke, took to the stage last week for their summer play, a lively performance of The Amazing Adventures of SuperStan.
The fast-paced superhero comedy saw students bring to life the tale of Stanley Marvel, an ordinary boy turned extraordinary crime fighter, who saves the world from the evil Candy King. Complete with dramatic chases, heroic deeds, and plenty of laughs, the production was a hit with families and staff alike.
Years 5 and 6 children led the cast, supported by younger pupils in ensemble roles. They had spent weeks rehearsing lines, songs and choreography in preparation for the final show, which was staged in the school hall.
Headteacher, Lizzie Pope, said: “We are so proud of all the children for their commitment, confidence and enthusiasm. They put on a fantastic show; the energy, team-work and talent on display was wonderful to see.”
The performance marked the end of the school year, and was the final production for many Year 6 pupils, who will move on to secondary school in September.
Parents, carers and other family members filled the hall for the performance, cheering and applauding as the young cast took their final bow. Staff praised not only the pupils’ hard work, but also the support of parents and the wider school community.
Mrs Pope added: “It was a true team effort – a joyful celebration to end the year on a high.”
