Two Islanders sleeping rough to help the homeless

Jade Light, 29 from Cowes, and Debbie Oakes 30, from Newport, who study Social Work at Southampton University, slept rough for one night to raise money for the homeless. The girls slept on the street in Newport on Wednesday.

Debbie said:”It was cold, you can’t sleep, it’s noisy, people walk by all through the night, we were glad it was just for one night.”

They visited Newport’s shelter for homeless at the Barton Primary Site and wanted to do something to help the homeless on the island.
