The former Ward House nursing home, in Ventnor, has been sold to a residential developer, following its closure earlier this year.
Specialist business property advisors, Christie & Co, conducted the sale on behalf of the liquidators after the nursing home ceased trading in February 2024.
Ward House was originally a pair of semi-detached houses that were joined together to create a spacious three-storey property. It features 19 bedrooms (eight with en-suite facilities), a large lounge/dining area, and a passenger lift to all floors. The rear of the property has stunning views over the English Channel.
Commenting on the sale, the buyer, Johann Joubert, said, “When I saw the potential of Ward House and the amazing views over the sea, I knew it was the right project for me. I’ve been searching for a development opportunity for some time and am eager to bring my plans to life.”
The sale attracted interest from various parties, mainly residential developers, according to Charles Phillips, of Christie & Co. “Given the property’s good location and size, we were confident it would appeal. Johann’s expertise in property development makes him an excellent fit for this project, and we look forward to seeing the results,” he said.
The sale price has not been disclosed, but it had a guide price of £650,000.
