Sporting Opportunities Club athlete, nine-year-old Jake Burton, announced himself on the national stage in spectacular fashion at the Activity Alliance National Championships, at Warwick University, enjoying a double golden debut.
Jake’s first event of the day was the shot put, and although he was competing at his first national championships, he showed composure and determination to produce a gold medal-winning performance.
The excitement continued on the track, where Jake competed in was called an Frame Runner race for the first time. With his own coach serving as the race starter, Jake approached the race with confidence and crossed the finish line to secure his second gold.
Jake’s positive attitude and enthusiasm also earned him the Spirit of the Club medal.
