Last Monday, Isle of Wight mum Mandy Fuller was presented with the 2025 WellChild Parent Carer Award at the Royal Lancaster Hotel in London.
Nominated by WellChild Nurse Paula Brooke, Mandy was chosen from hundreds across the UK for her unwavering dedication to families of seriously ill children.
A mother of four, Mandy’s journey began with her own children – three daughters born prematurely and a son. Her daughter Grace, who has cerebral palsy, requires ongoing care and therapies. Mandy’s determined fighting for them ensured all her children received every opportunity to thrive.
But Mandy’s compassion didn’t stop at her doorstep. She co-founded Daisy Chains, a charity supporting families on the Isle of Wight, with friend Kellie Lawrence. From emergency ferry travel to festive hampers, Mandy has helped hundreds of families with the challenges of caring for children with complex medical needs.
Even while fundraising for Grace’s life-changing surgery in America, Mandy continued organising community events like superhero days and Easter egg hunts. Her tireless efforts have made the charity a lifeline for many – especially as services shift to the mainland.
At the ceremony, Mandy met Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex, who praised the courage and love of carers like her.
WellChild Chief Executive Matt James said: “Mandy embodies strength, compassion, and the will to help others thrive. She is the heart of what these awards are all about.”
