A new book for children has just been released as a charitable project by Cowes-based not-for-profit publisher, Goldfishbooks UK.
Internationally known artist and illustrator, Anya Lauchlan, and husband, Peter, have recently moved to the Island to re-establish their small publishing company, Goldfishbooks UK, in Cowes, and to be nearer family and friends.
Two hundred copies of the new book ‘Toys at Night’, complete with Ukrainian translation inserts, are being gifted to schools and libraries in Ukraine. The remainder are being sold to help raise funds for Mountbatten Hospice, Newport.
Toys at Night, designed and traditionally illustrated by Anya Lauchlan, contains thirteen whimsical stories by prize-winning US author, Faye R. DesPres, and twenty stunning watercolour images.
This is the second collaboration between Anya and Faye, following ‘Soul to Soul, Tiny Stories of Hope and Resilience’, published in 2023, by Huntsville Independent Press in the USA.
Toys at Night was produced thanks to Anya, Faye, and the Ukrainian translators donating their time and talents, while Goldfishbooks UK has covered all printing and distribution costs.
