Island wildlife leader is named in UK top 100

Debbie Tann MBE

Debbie Tann MBE, chief executive of the Hampshire & IW Wildlife Trust, has been recognised nationally for her pioneering work in conservation.

Debbie has been named in the prestigious ENDS Report Power List 2025, which celebrates the UK’s top 100 environmental professionals. The annual list highlights campaigners, policy-makers, and unsung heroes, delivering real change for nature and climate across the country.

Included in the campaigner category, Debbie’s recognition comes in light of her leadership on the trust’s ground-breaking nutrient neutrality work, transforming degraded land into healthy ecosystems that reduce pollution and support biodiversity.

Her efforts have helped shape a new model for sustainable development, where restoring nature and protecting the environment go hand in hand. Under her guidance, sites such as Wilder Little Duxmore on the Island have become flourishing habitats for pollinators, birds, and other wildlife.

“This recognition is not just a personal honour,” said Debbie. “It’s a celebration of the volunteers, staff, partners, and communities who are giving nature a louder voice. The climate and nature crisis is urgent and the time to act is now.”

Debbie is also credited for driving forward the trust’s Wilder 2030 Strategy, a bold vision to restore nature across Hampshire and the Island.
