COUNCILLOR PROFILE: Cllr Jules Hayward – Nettlestone & Seaview – Independent – jules.hayward@iow.gov.uk

Jules was elected as the new Independent IW Councillor for Nettlestone & Seaview, securing 44.3 per cent of the vote.

A third-generation Islander, brought up on Seaview High Street and raising her own family locally, Jules says the campaign gave her a renewed sense of what community really means.

“I believe that we can create change when people with different views are willing to come together, focus on what we have in common, hold respectful debate on the topics we disagree on, and take a constructive approach to the challenges facing our Island.”

She brings more than 20 years of professional experience in leadership, organisational development and systems change, including over a decade at the Ellen MacArthur Foundation, in Cowes, and running leadership programmes with the University of Exeter. Jules runs her own consultancy focused on organisational effectiveness and team performance from her home on Oakhill Road, and hopes to bring some of these skills into her council work.

“Through my induction as part of the council role, I’ve picked up a real sense of that sentiment across the political parties and groups of independents, and I genuinely hope we can build on that spirit of working together. It came across strongly from other councillors in a recent session where many shared their passion for creating more opportunities and greater community satisfaction for Islanders.

“The work begins now. I’m ready to listen, learn, and work alongside residents, community groups, fellow councillors, and officers, to help create positive change locally.”
