I am proud to continue serving as the Councillor for Binstead and Fishbourne and am grateful to residents for their continued support. That local connection matters deeply to me.
Over the last term, my focus has been clear, and I have worked with residents, officers, fellow councillors, and community partners, to push forward practical improvements, including flood mitigation, Property Flood Resilience, road safety matters, dog fouling action, and the ongoing casework that forms such a vital part of a councillor’s role.
Good local representation is not about noise or grandstanding. It is about consistency, experience, collaborative working, and good governance.
The best outcomes usually come from listening carefully, understanding the system, building relationships, and then relentlessly following through.
Looking ahead, I want to continue that approach. Key priorities in the ward include further flood mitigation, safer roads, better play facilities, improved accountability around highways, and continued support for residents. At county level, good governance and experience are the bedrock to build from. New members will, over time, become part of the fabric, and I hope a local, collective approach can be adopted so the Council delivers effectively for the Island. These are our friends, neighbours, and communities.
I welcome all new members to the chamber and look forward to collaborating with them for the betterment of our Island. Whatever our political backgrounds, the focus should be on practical local delivery, sound decisions, and working together in the interests of the communities we represent – ideally, with a smile as we go!
