COUNCILLOR PROFILE: Lora Peacey-Wilcox – Cowes Medina – Independent group leader – lora08@sky.com

Cllr Lora Peacey-Wilcox

I am Lora Peacey-Wilcox, Independent councillor for Cowes Medina ward. Many thanks to all 499 of you voted for me in May. I’m truly humbled by your love and support.

I have been voted in consecutively since 2003. I have been a Cowes Town councillor since 1999.

My family date back (thus far) to 1753 on the Island. I attended all local schools in Cowes, and indeed began my public service at the age of seven, when I opened and ran the National Savings Scheme at Love Lane Primary. My commitment to Cowes residents has been constant since then. From youth groups to the cemetery and everything in between.

Most people still remember me as Miss Posh Frocks, not a week goes by but someone recognises me from then. It was a very successful business I ran for many years in Cowes. Hello to all you beautiful ladies that I had the honour and pleasure to dress; I think of you all often.

I am married (just about to celebrate our 39th anniversary) together – we have been together for 44 years. I have two daughters, two very beautiful granddaughters and two dogs (I obviously like even numbers).

After years of hostility in the council chamber, I am hoping that all 39 councillors can work together for the good of the Island and energy is spent finding out the issues and resolving them once and for all!
