The Foundation for Liver Research has applied for a removal of a planning condition which would allow the former Gurit building, Unit 3 at St Cross Business Park, in Newport, a new use.
Its agent, Chestnut Planning, says the bid would represent economic development and achieve required expansion.
The application form says: “Condition 12 requires that the storage use which forms part of the (previous) approval shall only be used for that purpose in conjunction with the adjoining industrial building to the east.
“It also requires that the building should not be used for B8 (storage and distribution) purpose at any time separately from the industrial building to the east.
“The building is no longer required to be used in conjunction with the adjacent building.
“Therefore, in order to allow an alternative user to occupy the building, it is requested that this condition be removed.”
The council’s public consultation on application 25/01185/RVC closes on October 3 and a decision has been scheduled for October 28. You can view the application at iw.observer/planning-portal.
