The RSPCA Isle of Wight is teaming up with local food banks to ensure no pet goes hungry when families face financial hardship.
Thanks to generous donations from supporters, and a grant from the national RSPCA, the branch is helping hundreds of households across the Island keep their beloved cats and dogs fed and cared for.
Working in partnership with Isle of Wight Foodbank, Ventnor Community Pantry, and Baby Box, the RSPCA provides vital pet food supplies to families in need.
The initiative offers a lifeline, allowing pets to remain in loving homes rather than being surrendered due to financial strain. “Times are hard for so many people and, when budgets are stretched, pet food can sadly become a real worry,” said Veronica Chrisp, marketing and fund-raising manager at RSPCA IW. “Pets are family, and the comfort they bring is more important than ever.
By working with our local partners, we can help owners avoid heart-breaking choices.” IW Foodbank manager, Kay Lewis, added: “Pets are integral to people’s well-being.
We’re so grateful for the support and donations from the RSPCA and their donors.” Last year, the branch donated thousands of meals to Island pets.
They’re now encouraging the public to continue donating unopened pet food at the RSPCA Animal Centre, in Godshill. Every tin, pouch or bag makes a difference. To support the scheme or learn more, visit iw.observer/rspca-donations.
