Going Electric 2025 powers up this Sunday in Newport

On Sunday, the Isle of Wight’s flagship low-carbon showcase returns to Newport Quay-side, and the Riverside Centre from 10am to 4pm.

Going Electric 2025 promises a vibrant, hands-on celebration of all things electric – from cutting-edge vehicles to home energy solutions; it’s designed to inspire residents and businesses to embrace a cleaner, greener future.

Following the success of previous years, this year’s event features an even broader range of exhibitors. Visitors can explore the latest electric cars from brands including VW, Volvo, Kia, Hyundai, and Toyota, alongside e-bikes, e-boats, and award-winning EV charging systems.

Local dealerships and national providers will be on hand to answer questions and offer test drives.

But Going Electric isn’t just about transport. The event also showcases solar panels, battery storage, heat pumps, and smart home technologies, with trusted experts offering advice on how to reduce energy bills and carbon footprints. Non-profit organisations, working in the low-carbon sector, will also be present, highlighting community-led solutions and support for those looking to make the switch.

Three expert-led panel sessions will run throughout the day in the lecture hall in the Riverside Centre. At 11am, the focus is on the electrification of transport, at 12.30pm, speakers will explore energy efficiency in the built environment, and, at 2pm, ‘The Big Picture’ session will offer insights into the broader energy transition going on at the moment.

Whether you’re a home-owner, business-owner, or simply curious about the future of energy, Going Electric 2025 offers a chance to learn, connect, and take action. Entry is free, and there’s something for all ages – including delicious eco ice cream and interactive displays.
For Islanders ready to plug into the future, Sunday’s event is not to be missed.

The event’s organisers Wight Community Energy (WCE) is a community benefit society set up in 2015 to deliver community-owned renewable energy, energy efficiency and energy supply projects across the Island.
