CEO visits local MS charity shop

By Press Release Jun 16, 2023

Shanklin’s Multiple Sclerosis (MS) shop, in Regent Street, welcomed national chief executive, Nick Moberly, recently, with volunteers on hand to highlight how income from the shop benefits local members and contributes to life-changing research.

Group co-ordinator, Paul Brading, introduced Nick to Lyn Fairman, who manages the shop and its volunteers, helps organise social events, activities such as sailing, and an alternative therapy scheme for members.

Nick said: “It was really good to see the positive difference that Lyn, Paul, and the team make to the lives of individuals living on the Island – the shop provides an innovative and inclusive model that we need to learn from nationally.”

Paul Brading welcomed the visit at the start of Volunteers’ Week. “Nick’s visit was inspiring for our team of volunteers, highlighting their invaluable work on the Island.”

Multiple Sclerosis is a condition of the central nervous system, with the body’s immune system attacking the brain and spinal cord by mistake, damaging the coating around nerve fibres. For more details email Karen Holmes at isleofwightsupport@mssociety.org.uk.
