From the moment we arrived, it was clear to see the Island’s community had come together for this grand event. Seeing the support for the local businesses was an amazing experience. Ranging from new companies to nationwide ones, there was something for everyone. Throughout both days, there were horse races, sheep and dog shows, farm animal greetings, and an array of different displays. If none of these are something you would enjoy, there were many other activities, including tomahawk throwing and archery with the Scouting Association, rock climbing with the Army, crafting with The New Carnival Company, and much more. Due to the wide variety in activities and things to see and buy, the County Show is suitable for all ages, while also offering a great marketplace to buy interesting and different gifts.

The crafting stalls were a favourite for many, showcasing all different kinds of art. The general consensus was that the show is a ‘great opportunity with lots to see and do’, though there could be ‘more local produce’ and a ‘flatter landscape’.
To us, this truly showed how one event can benefit a whole community, from local businesses to families. It represents how one small community can be brought together, to celebrate the diversity in terms of occupations on the Island along with the craftsmanship, creativity and support demonstrated between businesses. This outstanding event is definitely a place for all kinds of people, no matter age nor background, that is what truly makes the event special and unique.
