Quay Arts saw 100 delegates representing 65 businesses, gather for the second Just One Thing event last Thursday (June 25), a high‑value business networking and seminar programme created by Dale Howarth, the Island’s well-known business advisor and awards writer.
An hour of networking in the Quay Arts café and terrace provided the perfect opportunity for delegates to meet fellow attendees, speakers, and sponsors, before moving into the Anthony Minghella Theatre. Jonathan Thornton, CEO of PC Consultants and President of the Chamber of Commerce, opened the event, followed by fast‑paced talks from specially-invited speakers. Each was introduced by Dale and offered a rare glimpse into the “one thing” that has profoundly influenced them on their journey, and helped them overcome barriers to achieve greater success.
Talks included: the superpower you don’t know you have, from leadership consultant, Zoryna O’Donnell; The Commercial Athlete, from Joe Staunton, award‑winning endurance coach and performance specialist; Staying Ahead of the Game with Steve Wells, director of the multi‑award‑winning Luccombe Hotels; and Reputation is Everything, from Jonathan Thornton.
Dale said: “It was great to see so many from across the Island’s business community attend this event, network, and hear from the amazing speakers gathered. The feedback following the event has been amazing, with many commenting on the calibre of the event, connections made, all our speakers and the motivational insights that are now helping them meet the challenges they are facing today.”
This latest event follows the success of Just One Thing in 2024, and was again sponsored by leading Island businesses, including NFU Mutual, WightFibre, PC Consultants, Betapak Lifeline, Luccombe Hotels, The Island Tea & Coffee Company, Island Echo and the IW Observer.
