More than 40 naked dippers took part in the ‘Bare all for Boobies’ charity swimming event at Yaverland beach on Saturday.

The intrepid swimmers helped raised £500 to be split between Breast Cancer Now and the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, Sandown.

The money overtook a milestone for Sarah Tyrell-Jones, fund-raiser for Breast Cancer Now, who has passed the £50,000 target she set following her own personal battle after beating the disease in 2016. Sarah said: “The water temperature was gorgeous, around 17 degrees. The swim was very liberating and there was a lot of giggling and a feeling of a taste of freedom.

“One of the guys brought along a volleyball, so we played with the ball while we were in the water. We were all in our birthday suits and had so much fun and laughter.”

Regarding her fund-raising, Sarah, who has also run four London Marathons, said: “To reach £50,000 has been a life-time goal, and to reach it before the end of this year has been remarkable.”

Among the swimmers who joined her were friends along with members of Swim the Wight and Apple Blossoms, a support group for women under the age of 55 who have a cancer diagnosis.
