The Isle of Wight Sheepdog Trials will return for their third year this weekend, with organisers hoping for good weather.
Rowlands Farm, near Havenstreet, is the venue with the trials scheduled to run from 8am to 6pm on both tomorrow and Sunday.
This year’s event will feature more than 50 competitors and their skilled sheepdogs, who will demonstrate their expertise under the watchful eyes of the judges and an attentive crowd. The competition will draw participants from across the UK, promising an impressive showcase of talent and technique.
In addition to the trials, attendees will have the opportunity to enjoy a variety of local delicacies. Hazelgrove & Brownrigg burgers and hot dogs, alongside Calbourne Classics’ Isle of Wight ice cream, milk-shakes, waffles, and sundaes, will be available near the refreshment tent.
Entry to the event is free, with donations encouraged for the Mountbatten hospice. All profits from the Goddard’s bar and the Calbourne Classics cake stall will also be donated to the hospice. Last year the event raised more than £5,800 to help provide support to Islanders facing the end of their lives and their loved ones. This year, programmes are provided free of charge with an optional donation. The ‘I Love Wight’ Makers’ Market will also be present, offering a selection of locally crafted goods.
Last year’s event attracted more than 3,500 visitors, and organisers are hopeful for an even larger turnout this weekend, aiming to raise even more funds for Mountbatten.
Whether you’re a seasoned sheepdog trial enthusiast or a curious newcomer, the Isle of Wight Sheepdog Trials promise a weekend filled with excitement, skill, and community spirit.
