The Ryde Bus & Coach Museum’s busy weekend of fund-raising and festival fun, started with Friday’s VIP visit from Go South Coast and Southern Vectis officials.
The museum, which is free to visit, is run by volunteers and chairman, Derek Priddle, gave Go South’s managing director, Ed Wills, and engineering director,
Steve Hamilton, a guided tour. They were joined by Southern Vectis general manager, Richard Tyldsley, and chief engineer, Garry Furmidge.
Derek said: “It’s always interesting to welcome and show around the officials who took a great interest in what we do here.”
On Saturday the volunteers took part in Isle of Wight Pride along Ryde seafront, and on Sunday the museum held a fund-raising fair.
Shirley Winn, the museum’s trustee and treasurer, said: “We have three of these fairs throughout the year because it gives us a chance to raise some money to help us continue our work here. We offer free entry, so our only other way of raising money is through our cafe and shop.
“On Sunday, we had 30 tables selling local produce, including plants and home-made crocheting. We had lots of local people paying us a visit and I think everyone went away happy.”
