D-Day Proms concert is at Medina Theatre tomorrow

The D-Day Proms will take place at Medina Theatre tomorrow (June 1) from 7.30pm.

Expect an evening of powerful music, songs and words that commemorate the 80th anniversary of a decisive day in history and the people that were part of it. Performed by a 35-piece theatre orchestra, conducted by Andrew Woodford, the musicians will be joined by a compère for the evening, alongside students from Curtain Call Creative.

As well as the traditional songs from the war-time era, such as ‘A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square’ and ‘We’ll Meet Again’, the programme will include other titles such as ‘Rule Britannia’, ‘Land of Hope and Glory’, ‘Jerusalem’, ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’, ‘Nimrod’, ‘Fantasia’, ‘Saving Private Ryan’ and ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. The event will finish with a traditional proms finale.

Tickets cost £26.50 and are available on-line at iw.observer/ddayproms.
