Popular spring event is postponed until May due to rainfall

The popular Isle of Wight Spring Art & Garden Fair has been moved to a later date following record winter rainfall.

Following one of the wettest winters on record, and unsettled weather forecasts into the first week of April, organisers took the difficult decision to postpone the event from next weekend (April 6 & 7) to May 18 & 19.

Chief operating officer, Darren Cool, said: “Despite hoping with all our hearts for a change of weather, the Northwood House lawns and parkland remain saturated with water and next week’s weather forecast doesn’t see much improvement.

“The last thing anyone wants is to come to an event where its difficult to park close by and where it’s muddy and wet to walk around. Therefore, we’ve postponed the event until May, when there should be a much better chance of having a successful outcome.

“We’ve been in contact with all our exhibitors. Feedback has been very positive about the new date with most rebooking their pitches straight away. Therefore, we will be able to deliver an event to a similar standard as usual, hoping very much by then that the weather has kicked into summer mode.

“Pre-purchased tickets will be valid for May 18 & 19, but we’ll be in contact with all purchasers to arrange refunds if required.

“Hopefully the new May weekend date will prove to be an even bigger attraction for visitors at a warmer and drier time of the year.”
