Newport Minster is giving young people the opportunity to create their own exhibition, activity or event as part of Heritage Open Days 2024. Thanks to funding from the National Trust as part of the New Wave project, the Minster is inviting 18-25 year olds to ‘Remix the Minster’ for an event on September 7.

Community engagement co-ordinator, Hannah Griffiths, said: “This is a great opportunity for young people to connect with their heritage and make a statement in their community. We will be focusing on ‘Routes – Networks – Connections’, which is the theme of Heritage Open Days this year, but beyond that those involved in the project will decide on content and how it’s presented.

Participants do not need to be church-goers or history buffs; everyone is welcome to join in.”

There will be an initial meeting in Newport Minster on Monday, April 8 at 5.30pm for anyone interested. Email cec@cofeheartofwight.org or text/WhatsApp 07563 247758 for more information.
