The teams will also be playing each other in what will be the crunch match of the season for both teams.

This week the Spinners beat Ryde Frogs 7-3, whilst the Retailers matched their score against Ryde Rustics – twice, as they were catching up on postponed matches.

Primary Schools Tournament 2024

The IW Table Tennis Association (IWTTA) held a tournament at the Isle of Wight Table Tennis Centre last Friday.

Twelve primary schools and 120 children took part in sessions throughout January and February, with the top schools, Godshill, Greenmount, Summerfields, Newchurch and Carisbrooke, competing in the tournament. Teams of four all played each other in matches of three sets.

The winning team was Greenmount, with Newchurch second and Summerfields third.

IWTTA chairman, Alex Rorke, said: “We hope that these youngsters will continue to play and develop their skills, and we thank the schools, their staff and parents for their support, as well as those who organised this event.”

Medals were presented by Elaine Mills (organiser) and 17-year-old Ryan Cates, one of the Island’s top junior players.
