Medina Marching Band performs to a full house

The recent annual Spring Concert, performed by Medina Marching Band, was held at Christ The King College in front of a full house.

Aaron Pitman, from the Royal Marines Corps led the first half, featuring a saxophone solo by Zzahra Gourait to the popular piece “Baker Street”, originally recorded in 1978 by the late Gerry Rafferty. It was well appreciated by the audience, receiving a very-well deserved round of applause. Among other tunes performed were the popular ‘Sailing’, alongside a medley from Michael Jackson and the Blues Brothers. A rising star, and performing a stunning vocal to ‘Defying Gravity’, was George Sales, who was highly commended by president and former Royal Marine Corps director, Steve Savage, who said: “He is the one to watch.”

During the interlude a raffle was held to raise money to help with expenses incurred in running the band. The band is now in its 49th year, and the concert was dedicated by Kevin Downer to Kevin Hayward, the late former chairman, and George Urry. The two of them made everything possible.
