A local charity that helps young people build confidence through radio training has been nominated for a BBC Radio Solent ‘Make a Difference’ award.
The 4Ps Training School, based at Vectis Radio, supports 11 to 19-year-olds – including those with additional needs – by developing their communication skills in a practical, broadcast-based setting. The project has already received several awards for its work with Island youth.
The BBC Make a Difference awards celebrate individuals and groups who have made a positive impact on their communities. Nominations are judged regionally and nationally, with winners announced in September.
BBC Radio Solent’s senior content producer, Helen Head, contacted the team with the news: “I am delighted to tell you that you’ve been nominated for a BBC Radio Solent ‘Make a Difference’ award for 2025. Congratulations!”
Maggie Currie, trustee of the 4Ps charity, said: “This is fantastic news. Even to be nominated is an honour and a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team behind the 4Ps sessions. I hope this recognition will help us reach even more young people.”
