The retiring vicar of Ventnor and Bonchurch, Rev Canon Hugh Wright, took his final service on Sunday.
Rev Wright said: “As some of you know, I will be retiring soon after 10 years in this post.
“I wanted to say what a pleasure and privilege it has been to be your vicar and to thank everyone who has been part of it, through worshipping at our three churches, or whom I have met through weddings, baptisms and funerals, and the many community functions that have taken place in our churches.
“This community is without doubt the friendliest I have ever lived in, with so many good things going on and a sense of care for those most in need, especially since the Covid pandemic.
“My wife, Sarah, and I will miss you all but won’t be moving far. All are most welcome to my final service at St Catherine’s Church, on Sunday, at 11am.”
