Yarmouth’s Community Hall was buzzing on Friday, when Figgy Gig delivered an evening packed with music, laughter, and foot-tapping entertainment. Hosted by Jean G-Owen, the show celebrated February’s quirks with comedy, storytelling, and a cracking line-up of performers.
Magic Moments set the mood with a smooth selection of jazzy standards before Jean took the mic, guiding the audience through February’s funniest traditions — including Valentine’s spin-offs, rogue pancakes, and the questionable wisdom of weather-predicting rodents. Westrop followed with a cheery singalong of ‘A Little Help from My Friends’, before Tony “Monty” Hurst spun a gripping tale about The Raggle-Taggle Gypsies. Jim Baylis dazzled with his guitar wizardry and, after the interval, Second Time Around brought their folk versatility and multi-instrumental flair to the stage. Cheryl “Mayhem” May added a touch of “strictly” to the proceedings with her dance-floor anecdotes, and, closing the night, local legends Tez & Dave rocked the room with a crowd-pleasing set, featuring Bowie’s Space Oddity.
With free entry (donations welcome), Figgy Gig is a guaranteed night of fun. Don’t miss the next one on March 7, celebrating women with music, laughter, and, of course, a touch of Figgy magic!
