VIDEOS: Tilly and her Amazon World Experience Day – Part 1

It’s not every day you come face to face with a meerkat or spot a sloth hanging above your head, but a trip to Amazon World brings those magical moments to life.

I had the privilege of coming face to face with these animals and more, as I accepted an invitation to experience their hands-on animal experience days.

The sloths, with their slow, deliberate movements and surprising intelligence, were utterly captivating. At Amazon World, they live in a dark, carefully designed enclosure with large glass windows, giving visitors a clear view without disturbing their space. It’s a rare chance to observe these gentle creatures up close, whether they’re curled up in the trees or zigzagging their way across the branches.

In contrast, the armadillos were full of energy. They scurried across the enclosure with remarkable speed and confidence; which was shocking considering their terrible eyesight. Getting to feed them was a highlight – they’re curious, quick, and far more active than many expect. It’s easy to see why they’re a visitor favourite.

Then there were the meerkats, undoubtedly one of the most hilarious and adorable species at the park. Whether they’re standing to scan the surroundings or digging furiously in the sand, there’s always something going on. During the experience, I was able to get right inside their enclosure, and it’s clear how intelligent and social they are. For example, when I had run out of the live mealworms I was hand feeding them, and they saw the food container was empty, they ran off together to find something more rewarding to do.

Amazon World offers more than just a day out; it gives visitors a new appreciation for the animals it houses. Each encounter feels meaningful, and the staff are passionate about sharing their knowledge.

Amazon World has a Summer Special Island visitor’s rate of just £9 per person. It’s amazing Amazonion value, as the full prices are £18.95 for adults and £16.95 for 2–14-year-olds and senior citizens.
