A-level and other exam results were announced yesterday (Thursday) and it is clear that some students have achieved exceptional results, although it is too soon to have a clear picture of the Island’s overall results. Here are a round-ups of the results from individual schools in their own words.

Christ the King College
Achieving A-levels at a high standard is even more challenging this year, due to the impact of the pandemic. Despite this, Christ the King College students achieved an average grade of C+ in their A-levels this year, an improvement on 2019 results. Students on BTEC programmes also excelled, achieving an average grade of Distinction+. The College feels extremely proud that two of their Year 13 students are moving on to study medicine this year.
Fifteen per cent of all grades were A/A*. Christ the King’s overall pass rate is an impressive 99 per cent.
Head of sixth form, Hayley Conway-Hughes, said: “This is a day of celebration for a cohort of young people who have never before taken external examination assessments. They should feel extremely proud of the grades they are taking home today. We hope that they feel excited about what they’re moving onto next.”

Cowes Enterprise College
Sixth form students at Cowes Enterprise College have achieved results which reflect the hard work and commitment shown throughout their studies. Students across the academy performed incredibly well, with some individual stand-out achievements. Principal, Rachel Kitley, said: “We are incredibly proud of our students and what they have achieved this year. Their results reflect another strong year for the academy as a whole, but also demonstrate the dedication and commitment of the pupils, as well as our hardworking staff, and supportive wider community. We look forward to seeing the future successes of our students.”

Platform One
Platform One College of Music reports: “Incredible results for the twenty-fourth year running.”
Twenty-six students achieved the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Music, equivalent to three full A-levels. Many students exceeded challenging targets, with four achieving “Distinction* Distinction* Distinction*.”
Education director, David Pontin, commented: “We are absolutely delighted with results again this year. We are so proud of the achievements of each and every student. It is fantastic that all of our students will progress to their first-choice universities, with some students progressing straight into employment.”
Many students will progress on to Platform One’s own BA (Hons) Commercial Music undergraduate degree, validated through the University of Chichester. Platform One is still taking students for September. For more information contact admissions@platformone.org or call 537550.

Priory School
With a return to pre-Covid marking and grading, Priory School is delighted with its pupils’ results.
They achieved a 100 per pass rate with nearly half of all grades at A or B. All leavers achieved 3 A-level or AS level grades and go on to their first-choice university or into the workplace.
“Much more importantly,” said principal, Mr Lloyd, “they leave us as principled young adults equipped with the skills and qualifications necessary to thrive in the complex world beyond our school gates. All of the staff are very proud of our pupils and their achievements, and we wish them well in their endeavours and welcome them into our alumni community, where we hope they will remain engaged with school life and use their experience to benefit current pupils.”

Ryde Academy
It has been a challenging few years and Ryde Academy are proud of the hard work their students have put in. Principal, Joy Ballard, said: “We are hugely proud of our students who have worked through a challenging few years to achieve their A-Level and C-tec grades, which will set them up for further success in the future. We have students going off to exciting destinations with bright futures ahead of them.
“Hard work has paid off and we wish all our students the best of luck for their next steps.”

Ryde School
Ryde School is delighted with this year’s grades. 16 per cent of grades were A*. An impressive 37 per cent of grades were A*- A. One in five pupils sitting A-levels achieved three A grades or better and there was a 100 per cent pass rate. Headmaster, Will Turner, said: “This cohort should be very proud of what they have achieved and the impressive results are a credit to them and their teachers. What is particularly noteworthy is the range of destinations and courses pupils are moving on to. All of us at Ryde School wish this cohort the very best as they move on to the next chapter of their lives.”
