Nearly 200 yachts will take part in this weekend’s 16th Taittinger’s regatta at the Royal Solent Yacht Club, Yarmouth.
The event has attracted a mixture of repeat and new competitors, for a weekend of racing and socialising in and around the town, starting today (Friday) until Sunday.
On the water, Black and White Groups include Folkboat, XOD, YOD, IRC classes, NHC classes, Contessa 32, J109 and J111 divisions. There is a fleet of Classic Cruisers particularly popular this year with the British Classic Yacht Club Regatta running in Cowes Week, starting July 27.
On shore, events open with the Champagne Taittinger Reception, on the RSYC’s waterfront lawns, at 6.30pm this evening (Friday). Tomorrow afternoon, Wightwood Pizza will be baking at the yacht club and again on Saturday evening at 8.30pm, and the unmissable charity Towers Party next door, 8pm-1am, will feature live music, fireworks and a selection of bars and refreshment.
