A new gazebo, which has been built to honour Sir David Attenborough, the biologist, natural historian broadcaster, and writer, was officially opened at West Wight Nursery on Friday, celebrating his 100th birthday.
The nursery children wore fancy dress with the babies coming as insects, two-year olds as animals while the three-year-olds’ theme was ‘Under the Sea’.
The gazebo, built by Steve Knight, was officially opened by a limping West Wight MP, Richard Quigley, who broke his foot supporting Labour candidates on the local election trail!
There was a day of nature held at the nursery with the teachers dressed up as bush rangers and local artist, Stevie ‘Unknown’, who has worked with Damien Hirst, painting with the children.
The nursery, based in Totland by St Saviour’s Primary School, has 70 children attending.
