Tributes to Leo the cat have been posted on social media

Tributes and photos have been posted on social media, following the sad loss of a “perfect” fluffy ginger cat from Newport.

Leo was a much-loved mischievous moggy who chose to spend a lot of his time at St Mary’s Hospital, enjoying plenty of attention from both staff and patients. He was known to many as the ‘St Mary’s cat’, and was often found being fussed over, especially in the A&E waiting room. He had his own Facebook Page, called Leo’s Adventures, with almost 500 followers.

He lived with his family on the Isle of Wight Prison estate, but was sadly clipped by a car yesterday afternoon (Thursday).

Although Leo ran away after the collision, he was later found under a bush near the prison. He was taken to a local veterinary surgeon where he later passed away from his injuries.
