Police are appealing for witnesses after a loose dog attacked a sheep, injuring it so badly that it may have to be put down.
The incident happened near Appuldurcombe House, in Wroxall, around 1.30pm on Friday, with farm worker, Harry Owen, saying: “One of our sheep up in front of the house was attacked by a dog pretty badly.
“It looks like it may have to be put down because this person did not walk their dog on a lead. If anyone has any information about a staffie/pit-bull type dog, called Luna in the village, could you let us know?
“The incident has been reported to the police, and we believe this is the second time this has happened.”
A spokesman confirmed: “Officers are investigating after we received a report that a dog had attacked and injured a sheep in the Appuldurcombe Road area of Wroxall, at around 1.30pm on Friday, October 9.
“Anyone who witnessed the attack or has information about the dog involved is urged to contact us. If you have any information about this incident, please call 101, quoting the incident reference 44260496204.
