Food enthusiasts are well-catered-for at this year’s Isle of Wight Literary Festival.
The main course of the LitFeast culinary slot comes on Saturday, October 10, at Northwood House, Cowes, when there are three mouthwatering demonstrations by accomplished chefs.
Performing in the HTP Apprentice College-sponsored kitchen will be:
- Chris Galvin – London-based Michelin-starred restaurateur, who will be producing a dish of daube of venison with quince and chestnuts (taken from Galvin: A Cookbook de Luxe, first published in 2011) alongside his brother, Jeff;
- Miranda Gore Browne – The Great British Bake Off finalist is an author of two cookbooks, Bake Me a Cake as Fast as You Can, and Biscuits, Miranda shows you how to bake with love;
- Eric Lanlard – The French pâtissier demonstrates how to make a raspberry and chocolate tart – known for creating stunning, innovative desserts, cakes, and afternoon teas, the recipe comes from his book, Chocolat.
As well as these demos, there will be talks by well-known chef and restaurateur, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall (almost sold out), food critic, Andrew Turvill, and Professor Tim Lang on Feeding People, in an Era of Food Shocks.
Wine expert, Helen McGinn, returns with another tasting, and whisky connoisseur, Ian Buxton, is giving a talk on single malts of the Scottish Isles, accompanied by a wee dram.
Details of tickets for these and other talks are to be found at isleofwightliteraryfestival.com.
