Finn Woodford celebrates scoring equaliser for Islanders against Soton Uni

There were hockey wins for Men and Women’s first XIs, and the U-16 Girls’ side, with Sienna Holbrook scoring for Saturday and Sunday sides.

In Division Two South, IW Men’s 1st XI won 4-2 at home to Southampton University, with the Islanders coming back after conceding an early field goal. There were goals from Finn Woodford, skipper Adam Payne, player-of-the-match Kit McChesney, and Joe Arnold.

The Men’s 2nd XI narrowly lost 3-2 away at Trojans, with player-of-the-match Thomas Young scoring both goals.

IW Ladies’ 1st XI won their Division Two South match 2-1 away at Basingstoke. Experienced skipper, Katy Ednay, continued her goal scoring run, and Evie Fairhurst scored the winner from open play. Saffron Hart and Katy Ednay were awarded players-of-the-match.

Two strikes from Siena Holbrook weren’t enough to stop the Ladies 2nd XI losing 5-2 at home to United Services Portsmouth, in South Central Division One. They remain in bottom place. Bluebell Milsome was awarded player-of-the-match.

The U-16A Girls’ side won 5-0 away against Chichester U-16, with 2 goals apiece from Sienna Holbrook and Polly Rider, and 1 from player-of-the-match Jess Glover.

This weekend, 5th-placed IW Men’s 1st XI travel to Havant, with the 2nd XI welcoming Basingstoke on Saturday, then visiting Haslemere on Sunday. Second-placed IW Ladies’ 1st XI visit Basingstoke, with the 2nd XI home to Chichester Centurions.
