The Isle of Wight Youth Trust (IOWYT) has been named the overall winner of the 2025 GSK IMPACT Awards, for its work supporting the mental health of children and young people across the Island.
The award, announced at a ceremony in London, on May 15, includes £50,000 in unrestricted funding and access to expert leadership development through The King’s Fund. IOWYT was selected from a record number of entries following a rigorous assessment process.
Established in 1984, the charity has evolved from offering counselling for over-13s to providing a wide range of mental health services for children aged five and above, and the trust has extended its reach through outreach services in schools, youth centres, and online platforms.
In 2023/24, the trust supported over 1,300 children and young people through more than 5,000 therapy sessions. Its new service, The Hub, offers a drop-in centre in Newport for practical support, alongside therapies such as play, art, and cognitive behavioural therapy.
Jo Dare, CEO, said: “This award reflects the hard work of our team and the vital support we provide to young Islanders. It’s an honour to receive this national recognition.”
Local MP, Richard Quigley, called the award “absolutely brilliant” and praised the trust’s efforts in addressing the Island’s unique mental health challenges.
The GSK IMPACT Awards are run in partnership with The King’s Fund to celebrate outstanding small and medium sized health charities across the UK.
