STAR LETTER: A second warmongering Labour leader

Dear Editor,

In July, Keir Starmer said the UK would formally recognise the State of Palestine before the United Nations General Assembly meeting on September 9, if Israel hadn’t agreed to a ceasefire and committed to a two-state solution in the Middle East. It hasn’t; indeed Israel’s genocidal rampage in Gaza has intensified with the weaponisation of famine and the dropping of incendiary bombs on the tents of displaced Palestinians, bringing new levels of terror and indiscriminate killing.

Excel London hosted the DSCI Arms Fair this week, welcoming 51 Israeli arms and defence manufacturers showcasing a smorgasbord of weaponry, battlefield tested on defenceless babies and children.

Tony Blair, instead of serving time for taking Britain into an illegal war that killed hundreds of thousands, surfaced from his Metropolitan Police-protected lair and visited Donald Trump to discuss how to monetise Gaza by rebuilding it as a riviera playground and high-tech hub. Philanthropist, or dishonourable opportunist?

Why hasn’t Keir Starmer kept his word and recognised the State of Palestine? Why is he supporting Israel rather than listening to most British people who are screaming that what’s happening in Gaza is an abomination? It’s much easier to criminalise elderly protesters, using what many believe is a highly selective interpretation of terrorism legislation, designed to quash dissent, whilst continuing the profitable sideline of supplying the technologies needed to commit war crimes on defenceless civilians. Now that’s terrorism, Prime Minister.

Having been led by one Labour warmonger, Tony Blair, is bad enough, but to harbour another in Keir Starmer is a national disgrace. It’s why, in the eyes of many, Labour is finished.
