Online Auction In Aid Of St Catherine’s School

St Catherine’s School is raising funds for a new sports area and student parent Michaela White is lending a hand by holding an online auction.

The special needs school in Ventnor, for young people with speech, language and communication needs, wants to renovate its old tennis court to provide students with an upgraded area with two basketball courts and a football pitch.

The new sports area will mean that the students can play sport outside all year round, with basketball courts with different height posts to suit the school’s wide age range from 8 to 19. The renovation will cost around £60,000.

The online auction will run from 15 th to 22 nd March 2019 and Michaela is appealing to local businesses to donate auction lots for the fundraising event. So far the lots that are on offer include a Brittany Ferry voucher, a chocolate hamper and a Body Shop hamper.

Michaela said, “I have specifically chosen this campaign as both my sons attend St Catherine’s. They have high needs and require a lot of extra support which is provided with therapy and small, nurturing classes. They are being given the best chance of leading a fulfilling life with the high levels of help they are getting at St Catherine’s. Both boys have managed to express delight over a playground and sports area that can be used all year”.

Local business can pledge their support by contacting Susan Graves at St Catherine’s School at susan@stcatherines.org.uk or on 01983 852722.
