Around 1,200 people poured into the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, last Saturday, as the charity marked its 50th anniversary with one of its biggest celebrations to date. Families enjoyed food and drink stalls, live performers, musicians and, of course, the antics of the Sanctuary’s residents – including much‑loved bears Benji and Balu, who proved as popular as ever.
The only disappointment was the weather, which forced organisers to postpone the spectacular drone show finale. But the Sanctuary has moved quickly to ensure no one misses out.
All ticket holders have been invited back free of charge tomorrow (Saturday) evening, for a rescheduled drone spectacular. Gates will open from 6.30pm to 8.30pm, with the show set to begin at 7.45pm.
To protect the animals, the soundtrack will not be played aloud. Instead, visitors can scan the QR code above or use iw.observer/drone-show to stream the synchronised audio directly to their phones. Headphones are recommended, and guests are asked to keep external volume low.
Two viewing points will be available, and several performers and food traders have agreed to return for the second celebration. For those unable to attend, the Sanctuary will email a video of the drone show to all ticket holders.
Weather permitting, Part Two promises to be a dazzling finale to the Sanctuary’s golden anniversary.
