The Isle of Wight Autumn Walking Festival returns next month, with the first walks now available to book.
Running from October 3 to 11, the multi-award-winning festival will give walkers the chance to explore the Island’s landscapes, heritage, and autumn scenery.
Organised by Visit Isle of Wight, the festival features volunteer walk leaders sharing their favourite routes and local knowledge.
The programme includes coastal walks, countryside rambles, and routes exploring the Island’s history, wildlife, and hidden corners. There are shorter walks for those wanting a leisurely outing, as well as longer, more challenging routes.
With more than 500 miles of footpaths, over half of the Island designated as an Isle of Wight National Landscape, and UNESCO Biosphere Reserve status, organisers say there is plenty for walkers to discover. Most walks are free, although booking is essential. Some request donations to charity, while others charge a fee.
Dominic Wray, Interim CEO of Visit Isle of Wight, said: “Autumn is one of the most beautiful times of year to explore the Isle of Wight, and the Walking Festival is a fantastic way to discover the Island from a different perspective.
“Whether you’re an experienced walker looking for a new challenge, enjoy exploring local history and wildlife, or simply want to spend a few hours outdoors enjoying some spectacular scenery, there really is something for everyone.”
The festival runs until October 11, with walks available to book via iw.observer/walking-fest.
